Beautiful Agony Collection Online

fragment, 23/11/2010

Not today" Tuesday "is.
This is not "Bremen".
I do not sit in the "Café".

I am awakened from all illusions, from the prison of language. Piled up over the hills. Over all the mountains the wind blows into the open. The attempt to accommodate the infinite space in a matchbox
is ... failed.

Your name is just a story. Only a story, piled out of the sand of past events. The door was open at any time. I'm going home now, where I am. Come on, you're already there. Let us watch the game tectonic plates and dive with the whales.

Behind the door is a door. It leads nowhere. I take heart and jump. The mirror is broken, the fragments form my face. Let them fall into the luminous transparency. I trace the shadows to the light. There, you wait and smile at me. My God, it seems like an eternity. I should be right. There is nothing to hide, everything is obvious.

Nothing is so useless as a flower. Come, I'll put one in my hair. We stare at the sky, the sky staring at us. As if I had known it, there's nothing to say. We talk till the morning dew glistens on our eyelashes. The time jumps into the air with happiness. Life would be so difficult, but I've forgotten how. The usual ones are more than enough. Every detail exudes this love. I am bathed in thusness, the light is intolerable.

"What is love?" - The B-Sides

the phenomenon-Verlag has recently published an interesting book titled "What is Love - An anthology of the integral aspects of love" . It is an anthology, with a - how shall I say - seeeehr interesting line-up of authors, as there would be: Interestingly, Erich Fromm, Pope Benedict, Andrew Cohen, Genpo Roshi, Michael Habecker, Ken Wilber, Tom Amarque, including there would have been almost "Dennis Wittrock" stood on the book cover. There is even a text to, but unfortunately I wrote it in a time where I precisely had not: time. Tom When I finally sent them to the publishing phenomenon, I got it back with the comment that he is good in many approaches, but somehow was written in blog-style, if I still wanted him to work again. I was willing, but abandoned due to other commitments in the end. When the book has been released, I thought to myself: If there is text in the blog-style, so I can at least publish it on my blog, what could be more. I like the idea that it - similar to the albums of music stars - is as old as it were, "B-side" experiences may still be worthy of dignity and must. I have it as a PDF at the following >> Link << stored. Happy reading! Just between us: you can after the question of the nature of love is not nearly not put his foot somehow, it tasted even from himself.

The integral voice on

Jordan Luftig, "building a movement by meta-narrative: A ideological approach to the staging of an integral Future "

-Dennis Wittrock, August 2010

Jordan Luftig working to JFKU and research for the Integral Research Center. For the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice (JITP) he had written a same article he presented now in slightly modified form. Originally he had in the context of Jim Garrison's Global Leadership Campaign ("State of the World Forum") research is being done, how to inspire people for integral ideas in dealing with the climate crisis. The result of his research but has also implications for the communication of ideas in an integral Public in general.

as I share myself to a large extent similar goals and follow up with friends and colleagues in German-speaking, I was particularly interested in this presentation. "How can we produce an integral age?" This question also drives to Jordan Luftig. Using the two standard answers, integral development theory and development integral applications in practice, he said that he as very important, but consider inadequate. In his view, it needs a social movement that is powered from an integral ideology. We must embrace to advance the politicization of the integral theory.

What? Politicization of the integral theory and integral ideology? "By ideology we associate generally a negative thing, an emotionally charged, padded with myths belief system. Karl Mannheim in 1936 between two forms of different ideologies: ideologies and total particulate. The former definition refers to the specific views of a party or interest group, such as communism. While with the latter refers to the typical mindset of a whole class or a historical period - examples are medieval thinking or modernism.

to lofty words: "If you translated it in integral terms, it has a particulate Ideology of the "us-versus-them" mentality that characterizes the thinking within the world views of the first rank. A total ideology expands the concept of ideology to the point that they thought about a world point of view, no matter whether first place (eg, amber-mythical, orange-rational) or second rank (eg petrol and turquoise-integral) or higher. In this latter sense, the AQAL Integral community is driven by an ideology - fundamentalism - and talk all the time about ideologies, "What do

ideologies? They distil the key aspects of a belief or theory, break down into understandable units and motivate people to concrete Acts in the world. If you thought about her bad reputation across states adhering to them because of their particulate variants, they are very powerful and moving a lot in the world. Jordan's conviction is that the integrals is a worthy candidate to much for an ideology to be, than any other system of thought. Ideologies are the basis for collective identity and collective action.

He characterized the injunctions of his ideological approach as follows: first
Leave you in the spirit and the morphic field of ideology sink
second Use ideology as a conceptual lens and heuristic device
third Grave in the Integral - the theory and community - help for ideas to the integral movement to grow and to transform society.

Next, he introduced the concept of meta-narrative. This is not the same meta-theory, as one might think. Also, it did not mean to get people where they stand. This is the most integral communication strategy as early as flesh and blood walked. The disadvantage is that we as integrals while invisible with our position and will sacrifice our own unique voice. Another way in which we reveal our voice is when we only speak with the voice of the neutral model, the "voice of the optional awareness.

to Wilber says several places that AQAL is basically a hollow shell of content that we ourselves can fill with content. Jordan contrasted this with Wilber's other voice, by proposing to him too often, such as in Sex, Ecology, Spirituality, where he passionately against the prevailing party plain-taking view of the world. This is the other voice, the narrative voice, or the "Voice of Choice". Both voices are important, but if we neglect the narrative voice, what happens in Jordan, according to the current integral movement, we will never be able to achieve and make a broader mass of people and.

A man who has done that in the recent past, Barack Obama was . Accordingly, Jordan has taken his strategy more closely. He found that people who supported his nomination, were taught at "Camp Obama" to tell three different stories: first

The history of "self"
second The story of "us"
third The story of the "now"

This narrative approach of the public goes back to full Marshall, who described him as a leadership art. Integralists is not difficult to see the Big Three (I, We, It) again. It is an integral way of story-telling. But

what about in the integral community itself? In Jordan's words: "Based on my experiences are integral leader ready at hand to tell the story of now, about the state of the world, accompanied by the story about how we must come together to solve planetary problems [.. .]. May it be so and may we be. What is you and me "me"? The story of the self is often neglected or are not told "

Why is always the so -. This is also my experience. With a quote from Marshall, he made very clear why the omission undermines the credibility of our history of self: "In personal terms, this means that most players in both stories about the pain of the world and the hope of the world. And if we have not learned before, to speak about our stories of pain, it may take a while to learn to deal with it. But if others do try to understand why we do what we do - and we leave this piece -. Will make our report miss authenticity, raising questions about the rest of the story "

The art of leadership is so closely linked to the ability connected to touch other people by example and thereby radiate credibility - to be human, with which one can identify. That's the power of the story of the self and one of the key messages that I personally take it from the ITC to take home. I have my / we need to express our own voice and integral. This is not the neutral voice of the optional awareness that disappears into the public discourse like a chameleon, but the passionate voice of choice. I literally can not afford it, myself constantly behind the great thinkers, comprehensive theories and grand world-centric ideals and the "higher we" hide, but must learn mitzukommunizieren what drives me personally to do all these things - the evolutionary Responsibility to take upon myself to make the often thankless pioneering work to make career decisions against the grain of society to put my relationship on the line, to irritate my family to sit between two stools. Otherwise, people can not feel me and do not trust me.

What is what I find most integrals so infinitely precious, and why? What is it that Ken Wilber and others for which I am so grateful? What I nourish delicate hopes in my heart? By which I suffer when I perceive something as less than integral? What I see as the bright promise and desirable goal of integral consciousness? How can I have my own shaking the degree of care and compassion of the integral consciousness at least make a noticeable aftershocks? How can I make my burning desire, the higher truth, beauty and goodness of the integral vision to share with other people to communicate without it sounds corny or pathetic? How can I give my gratitude expressed to share this knowledge can be and how can I be the associated responsibilities?

These are questions that have occupied me personally and perhaps a good entry point into a continuous practice to learn to tell the story of the self. Who are you? Why do you read those reports? What has with you to do your pain and your hope? Step forward and show you - we and the world need you!

Integral 2.5

report from the second international Integral Theory Conference 2010 in San Francisco
- Extract from the online journal "integrally informed", Issue 25

Dennis Wittrock, August 2010

What is and who integral international movement? Does it exist at all, or is it rather just an elitist endeavor? What influence it has within, or to the academic world? How mature is the field? It has differentiated from the person Ken Wilber? What new approaches, examples and openings are there? These and other questions I had in my luggage when I am on the long way through many time zones to San Francisco made. For the second time ever, was there from 29.07.-01.08. the ITC at JFK University in Pleasant Hill instead.

Image: Campus at JFK University, Pleasant Hill, CA

was the title of the conference on Integral Enacting Future . "Enactment", in German as "staging" means in the context of the integral theory and practice that our experience of reality not in any prescribed form lying around, but that we actively by our recognition efforts and practices co-create and produce. could, with over 100 speakers, 77 individual presentations, 15 panels, 16 workshops in the interlude and 24 poster presentations an impressive stage had been prepared, on which over 500 participants from all over the world together now stage the next step of an integrated future.

I was on Monday in San Francisco arrived to give my body enough time to arrive so that I could handle the full program the following weekend. About my old friend, John Dupuy, active integrals in addiction recovery, I was in touch with Adam Gorman, was currently taught doctoral candidate at the JFKU. True to the spirit of ILP, we went right after my arrival to the gym and practiced meditation in the morning together, minimizing my jet lag evident.

Wednesday evening with Steve McIntosh @ Bay Area Integral

Image: Steve McIntosh at the lecture

After some sightseeing on Tuesday I should an event on Wednesday evening, the local Bay Area group with the integral Integral philosopher Steve McIntosh organized on the occasion of the ITC was in the area. Terry Patten gave host a brief introduction and then presented McIntosh, entitled "Progress and aim of Evolution A summary of the main theses of his new book. Thus evolution is essentially a dialectical process that is driven by the production and realization of ever higher levels. McIntosh's strategy is to use the book mainly to address people, attach to the modern world view and to show what evidence can be solely derived from the science to the development point of view, which begins at the Big Bang, in the realm of matter and life continues and finally, the field of mind and culture includes. According to him, eg an emergent quality at the level of life (biosphere) the ability of organisms - such as rudimentary whatsoever - to follow intentions and evaluative to make decisions. This ability has a specific survival value. This gets to blossom in human culture (noosphere), in which the values trio of truth, beauty, good looks as an evolutionary attractor. McIntosh's book will soon appear in the U.S..

Thursday: "Who are we?" - Began Pitirim A. Sorokin integral to 2.5

The conference on Thursday with 14 pre-conference workshops. I first attended a half-day introduction to Holacracy with Brian Robertson because I was curious as to which aspects of its integral practice for organizations, he would get close to this particular audience. In addition, I looked at a workshop with Marilyn Hamilton and Cherie Beck, who used the lenses of an integral urban planning and patterns of recurring cycles of generation on the health of cities and municipalities.

: Mark Forman, Sean Esbjörn-Hargens & Jordan Luftig

In the evening there was the grand opening of the conference at the Hilton Hotel. The main organizers of the conference, Sean Esbjörn-Hargens and Mark Forman and David Zeitler gave an introduction to the topic. Sean opened wide when he posed the question "Who are we?" And "How will we look back a thousand years to this conference?" He stressed that the practical application of theory in practice, the litmus test and that the ITC all two years as a kind of check-in could serve, where you'll see what has emerged in the meantime. He described that the necessary process of differentiation began the figurehead of the field of Ken Wilber already at the first conference in 2008.

David Zeitler went in more detail on the question "Who are we?" one, as he presented the findings of a survey of the conference two years ago. Accordingly, on average, had already made many of the participants ever mystical experiences and were moved by the issues of "cultural fragmentation and belonging", "ecological devastation and renewal" and "psychological regression and transformation." The most important element of the integral theory felt the 47% level of consciousness than to convey the most difficult to communicate with colleagues from their own discipline, the element states of consciousness has been called. Overall, a large range of different evaluations found that indicate that substantive tensions will persist in the field. This fact was interpreted as a sign of a healthy, diverse community.

Mark Forman considered the question of differentiation of Ken Wilber precise and made clear that the integral equation = Wilber is not tenable in which he focused on the search for the footsteps of predecessors made and stressed that present alternatives to AQAL admit. Nevertheless, Forman said that AQAL is a refined model and compared with a mathematical genius Wilber, who are present but his solution, but often not the way he it got there. He described the objective of the conference, a scientifically robust view of Integral. As the academic world traditions familiar and singular figures often distrusted, did he show a concern a historical perspective, even if only a preliminary, schematic:

history of Integral

integral beta: Early integral thinkers
integral 1.0: AQAL (1995), Ken Wilber Integral
2.0: The Convergence and Application (ITC 2008)
Integral 2.5: differentiation, diversity, research (ITC 2010)

Integral 3.0: towards a mature integrated academic

He also pointed out five ways in which the field starts from Wilber to

differentiate 1) evidence
2) interpretation

3) Application and emphasis
4) method
5) Framework

The first three are the easiest. If you look at other data refers to (1), AQAL interpreted differently (2), or by applying experience other aspects emphasized (3) is much easier than if you want to change independently the integral method (4) or the Framework (5) . When three Challenges here Forman called the sheer volume of written material (Sean Esbjörn-Hargens estimated it at about 10,000 pages - only by Wilber - and 10,000 pages of others), the difficulty of applying AQAL and the difficulty of creating a method for meta- Research. Such a method would make reconstruct why you shoot in which aspects of its meta-theory, instead of just presenting the results of the process (as Wilber). designated

Mark Forman it a great turning point in our view, the Integral to be regarded as historical line. In this spirit, he presented then another - in integrated circuits so far unknown - Ken Wilber's precursor: the Russian and American sociologists Pitirim A. Sorokin (1889-1968). This also began the term "integral" to use, referring among others to the "three channels" of body, mind and intuition, in which every man available. In addition to these and other parallels with Wilber Forman had worked out deliciously, like Sorokin apparently had a similarly ambivalent relationship with his critics. From contemporary accounts of his colleagues went out this vividly as Sorokin mercilessly cut - Wyatt Earp would approve. The ensuing laughter in the audience was a healthy self-mockery in the field . Close

Sean Esbjörn-Hargens In analysis of the status quo is ranked the first ITC in 2008 looking back on the motto "Love Fest", during 2010 for it all under the sign of differentiation - not only in relation to Wilber. He highlighted in particular the work of Mark Edwards, whose concept of "lenses" he described as groundbreaking. The five elements of AQAL can therefore be regarded as a theoretical lens through which the world can be developed. There are still other possible lenses, such as the lens 'power', in the postmodern thinkers as Foucault plays a central role, but in the integral theory not previously been emphasized (demarcation needs compared to post-modern?). He summarized the decoupling of Ken Wilber and Integral Theory in the following diagram:

as factors that influence this decoupling, he was one of Wilber's disease and the resulting silence itself (long no output anymore), newly prominent voices, new publications, both ITC conferences, and Mark Edwards on metatheory.

As a new alternative to Wilber-centric approaches on the one hand and the "bunch" of Wilber-neutral "integral studies" on the other hand illustrated Sean Esbjörn-Hargens, the third possibility of Wilber-based position using the metaphor of a tree. The tree is rooted in the work integral pioneers, such as Gebser, Baldwin, Aurobindo, is his master (father) Wilber, and starting from there he branched out into various applications, extensions and publications. clouds hovering above him, the critic, like Visser and Edwards, the rain is nourishing. You can see from this picture, as is very Esbjörn-Hargens home in ecology. He called for the integral approach as a "theory of anything" umzutitulieren (instead of "everything") - not a "theory of everything", but a theory that can be applied to any aspect of reality.

the title of the conference "Enactment" he described as a continuous koan. It means the active participation in the reality, not just their image. Central here are the methodologies, the how of the production. Ultimately, it related to the practice. And he urged those present to practice in the following days, the following properties: reflexivity, critical dialogue, paradoxes keep taking meta-statements, change of perspective, dialectic ... and generosity to each other - the latter having in common academic discourse often enough a foreign word is.

The introductory lecture Surprise was the first of what should be a great concert. Sean Esbjörn-Hargens had laid calculated that, considering the numerous combinations of offers (the calculator of its iPhones on strike in the meantime) at least 800 million different ways possible, the conference to go through. I was curious what would be mine.

IF conference in Berlin, 18.-06.20.2010

"education and enlightenment
- knowledge and wisdom for a sustainable world"

Under this theme the Conference 2010, are organized by the IF and DIA of 18 to 20.06. takes place in the "Workshop of Cultures in Berlin.

concept

In German, the English term "Enlightenment" two different meanings: "Enlightenment" and "enlightenment" Beginning with the Renaissance and even before the Enlightenment means continuing human quest to each individual from ignorance. and liberate ignorance to gain a better understanding of what it means to be human within culture and nature - in the sense of a continually unfolding fullness of life. Enlightenment makes reference to the spiritual and religious heritage of humanity, in which men and women of all places and times see their nature as spiritual beings, and recognize the timeless and always current line of the whole existence.

It is time both in an integral embrace to bring together - education and enlightenment, science and spirituality, the cognitive and the meditative, understanding and realization, the relative and absolute - for a better individual life and a better future of mankind.

Focus: Climate Change & Integral Ecology

therefore will be a special focus of the meeting, the global ecological crisis, as it accepts primarily in the form of climate change form. To leave behind for our children's children a sustainable world, we need the best of education and enlightenment, both knowledge and wisdom. Where the need is great, since - as already said, Hölderlin - "grows the saving already. What could be the end of the emergency Wend shrugging in the face of financial crisis, climate change, terrorism, fundamentalism, the threat of resource scarcity and desperation? If the conditions of life are in fact the question to which human intelligence always brings new answers - then what is the answer to problems that are so complex that they elude the nation-state structures more and more?

To whom should we still believe? What is right and what is wrong? Does it make sense to the term "truth" to hold or is it all just a product of cultural construction anyway? If God is dead - and if not, what all games should in this speck of dust anywhere in the universe?
